Canyons School District (formerly Jordan School District)

In November 2008, voters decided to create a new school district in the southeast quadrant of the Salt Lake Valley. The Lieutenant Governor's office has received the formal boundary descriptions for the new school district and has issued a "Certificate of Entity Creation" which formally established the new school district. The new school district will begin offering services on July 1, 2009. Until then, information about local schools is available at Jordan School District 


Local attractions:

Alta Ski Area along with Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort boasts a combined 4,700 acres of skiable terrain with interconnected skiing routes. Alta is a skiers' mountain, no snowboarders are allowed. With 500 inches of annual snowfall, nine base area lodges and 23 great restaurants, Alta has something for everyone! In Alta there are more than 116 runs, 25 percent of the terrain is for beginners, 40 percent for intermediate skiers and 35 percent is advanced terrain.
